“There will always be people telling you that you can’t achieve something or to settle for something less than. People, especially women in abusive relationships, need to stand up, have self-respect and realize that you are better off without that negativity in your life.”  - Tatiana Lima

Jersey’s pop rock songstress Tatiana Lima, just released her single “Better Off Without You” and The Crush is thrilled to be sharing it on it’s release day.  This dark pop gem is inspiring, empowering and shows off her powerhouse vocals filled with raw emotion. The song accurately represents what seems to be Tatiana’s brand - edgy, passionate but most of all, honest.

Tatiana defines her own style as pop rock with Brazilian/Latin roots. Paired with her songwriting prowess & support from her team at Trista Records, she is paving the way to her success as a singer/songwriter. With her new album releasing in 2019, Tatiana wants to tell the world that no matter what circumstances you are in, you have the ability to overcome it and move forward. She wants to reach as many people as she can with her songs and in our opinion - the world needs to hear them.

"Better Off Without You" is available in digital platforms worldwide TODAY and you can follow Tatiana on Instagram at @tatianalimamusic. Take a listen here and be sure to subscribe to her newsletter at https://www.tatianalima.com/ to be kept in the loop about her upcoming album & shows.

#WellnessWednesday: How to Stay Healthy on the Road

11/28/2018

Ah wellness and health, the topic all over our Instagram feeds. From “detox teas” to waist trainers, we receive tons of messages about how to look and feel our best. For artists on the road, finding ways to stay in good health  is especially of concern. Before you click off, no, this isn’t a post that will tell you how you “should” look or that you don’t fit a certain mold. I’m not giving you “5 steps to get in the best shape you’ve ever been.” I want this post to assist you with being the best version of you and staying healthy while on the road. Lets jump right in.

Food: Making Small Changes
Let’s cover perhaps the biggest topic first. How the heck do you eat healthy while on the road, surrounded by fast food and eating at odd hours? Sometimes the drive-through may be your only option, but there are still slight changes you can make in this instance. For example, if you normally order a cheeseburger meal with medium drink and fries, next time try instead:
  • Cheeseburger meal with small drink and fries
  • Cheeseburger meal with small fries but drink water instead
  • Cheeseburger with iced tea and no fries
Another easy (but still significant) change is taking one or both buns off. Condiments are another one of those things that you really don’t think about: ketchup is high in sugar, try some mustard instead. If you’re having a wrap or a salad, opt for a vinaigrette instead of a classic dressing. These kinds of small changes add up, so do what you can for the health and energy you need on the road.
Tip: If eating out, look at the menu beforehand. Planning what you get ahead of time makes a huge difference between choosing a “bad” versus a “good” meal.

Exercise: No Gym Required
Along with food, getting the right amount of movement is crucial for a healthy life. I’m not saying you must train 2-3 hours a day 6 days a week. If you’re a gym lover then, by all means! If you’re not--don’t worry, I got you. Try walking at least 30 minutes everyday. You’re on the road! You’re seeing new cities, explore! If there is time before or after the show, walk around. The fresh air is great for you as well. If walking doesn’t cut it for you, here are a few of my favorite free apps for “at home workouts” you can do on the bus or at the venue:
  • 7 Minute Workout Challenge
  • Seven- 7 Minute Workout
  • Workout for Women: Fitness
  • Nike + Run Club
  • Nike Training Club

Mind and Soul: Mental Health is Key
Staying healthy is more than eating right and staying active. Metal health is a key factor that most of us tend to forget. Here is how you can keep your mind in check on the go:
  • Meditation. There are plenty of meditation videos out there to assist you.
  • Breathwork. If you’re not familiar with this, it is a practice where you are conscious of your breathing. You connect mind and body by focusing your attention on your breath.
  • Journaling. Keeping track of your emotions and letting them out on paper instead of bottling them up is a great way to clear your mind.

Now, with all that said, take this and have fun! Be present, show up for yourself, stay safe, and stay healthy. You are rocking your career!

#FeatureFriday: Learn Your Soul’s “Purpose” With Joan Mercury’s New Single

“Cause I see fire and passion let’s throw those doubts in the flames
You’ve gotta want and desire just trust yourself once again
Cause you’ve gotta purpose
You’ve gotta purpose”

New York City soul/sophisti-pop artist Joan Mercury gave #WomenCrush Music the honor of exclusively releasing the new music video for self-empowerment anthem “Purpose,” the single off of her debut album “Mercury Rising” (released October 9th). With no formal training, Joan has entered the NYC scene with a bang, playing at The Bowery Electric, Treehaus Mia Mia, Parkside Lounge, and Metropolitan Room. Now, she’s ready to take the leap and perform with a full band in 2019.

Her song “Purpose” was born after a series of events including moving to NYC, ending a toxic five-year relationship, therefore not knowing where to find her tribe or what steps to take next. As a child, Joan was discouraged from pursuing her musical talents; but seeking some emotional relief during this time, she started singing cover songs on YouTube. She wasn’t singing for anyone’s approval, but soon enough she was receiving inquiries from producers. That’s when she began transforming her personal journaling into intentional lyrics that we can now all relate to.

“Purpose is an inner monologue. No matter what obstacles you may have faced, be kind to yourself. Sometimes we let the self-deprecating thoughts get the best of us, and it can really hinder us from living out our dreams. It’s easier said than done, but trust your instincts and know anything is possible. Others might doubt your abilities and test you, so be your biggest cheerleader. You can't rely on others to do it for you. Believing in yourself, is the best armor you can have.” - Joan Mercury

Joan sees every step of her journey as part of her artistic evolution. In a world where so much of what we do is judged on the Internet, this is definitely a mindset to aspire to. She went from being told not to sing as a child, to now, inspiring New York and hopefully soon, the world, to keep rising up.

“You don’t have to have a ‘belty’ voice for people to hear you,” says Joan.

You just have to remember that you have a purpose, and people WILL listen.
